"Kissing Sid James" by Robert Farquar

Hull Truck Theatre, February 1999 and National Tour 2000
Eddie   Paul McCrink
Crystal   Hannah Smith

Love is what many crave but few achieve. Crystal's jaded past and Eddies non-existent future collide headlong into perilous passion as the star crossed romancers and wannabe lovers have a right carry on in their seaside palace of sin.

Eddie is a romantic, lonely salesman on the cutting edge of the stationary sales world. He asks crystal, a croupier, out for a good time, a weekend away in a seaside B & B. But he's no Sean Connery, even with the lights out! And would Eddies mum really approve of Crystal's dodgy dress sense.

"This is a bitter sweet comedy. As they get to know one another, it emerges that he lives with his mother and she has a dead end marriage and fantasizes about Sean Connery. Expertly directed by Simon Stallworthy, they take us on a psychological roller coaster ride, now up, now down…nothing much happens - and yet everything happens. This is superb small scale theatre which provokes big scale thoughts about human relationships."
